1 killed in single-vehicle crash in Virginia Beach - Virginian-Pilot

VIRGINIA BEACH

One person is dead after a crash near the intersection of General Booth Blvd. and Nimmo Parkway.

Around 10:54 p.m., police were called to the 2100 block of General Booth Blvd., said spokeswoman Tonya Pierce in a news release. Officers found a single occupant of a 2005 Dodge Dakota dead at the scene.

An investigation found that the vehicle was trying to turn north from Nimmo Parkway, Pierce said, when it hit the median, then overcorrected and struck a tree.

The person who died was not identified. The name was being withheld for 24-hours after the next of kin notification has been made, Pierce said. She said she expected the name to be released on Sunday.

The investigation was still ongoing, Pierce said, and it had not been determined if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
