Park officials claim that the monstrous ride's unique elements will crown it as the "tallest, fastest and longest single rail coaster" on the planet. The one-of-a-kind Jersey Devil ride will rise in the theme park's Jackson branch, specifically near the Great Lake, making it all the better for the beast to manifest "under a full moon."

The attraction was named after the legend of the Jersey Devil, a mythical, menacing, demon-like creature rumored to haunt the Pine Barrens region of the state in the 18th century, according to the Philly Voice.

"Six Flags Great Adventure is home to the best and most innovative roller coasters on the planet, and we are thrilled to expand our unrivaled collection with the Jersey Devil Coaster," park president John Winkler said in the news release. "Jersey Devil folklore has been a source of fear and intrigue here in the Pine Barrens for more than 200 years, and this iconic piece of New Jersey history inspired the design for this monstrous scream machine."

Queens Catholic school teacher claims she was fired for being single - New York Post

Posted: 31 Aug 2019 03:09 PM PDT

A Catholic-school teacher claims she was singled out for being single.

Andrea Puma, 34, says the principal of Our Lady of the Snows in Floral Park, Queens, demanded that parents and teachers "never" communicate outside of school, then fired her after he found out she'd gone on a few dates with the father of a former student.

But Puma's suit in Brooklyn Supreme Court alleges that Principal Joseph Venticinque had a double standard: He didn't discipline a married colleague who invited both staffers and parents to a Super Bowl party, she claims. She's suing the school and the Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens for unspecified damages.

The diocese slammed the allegations as false and said Puma's "affair" with the married dad of a student was "inappropriate behavior" that violated the school's code of conduct.

All the single ladies have been an economic force for a long time – marketers are just noticing - The Guardian

Rise of the SHEconomy

Who run the world? Girls!

And who is disrupting the American economy in a big way? Single ladies!

By 2030, 45% of working women aged 25-44 in the US will be single, according to a recent research report from Morgan Stanley based on Census Bureau Data. This would be the largest share of single working women ever – up from 41% in 2018. A number of social trends are driving this, including the fact that women now receive more bachelors degrees than men and people waiting longer to get married. Morgan Stanley further notes that "the fastest-growing segment among women is the 'never-married'" which it expects to grow from around 25% in 2000 to almost 33% in 2030.

So what does this mean? Well, according to the Morgan Stanley report, which is titled "Rise of the SHEconomy", it means you might want to think about buying shares in Lululemon and make-up companies. The investment firm notes that single people outspend their married counterparts in the personal care and beauty category, "with an outsized gap among single women". The report also observes that Starbucks is very popular with women and the increase in single women "will drive growth in the luxury and electric vehicle segments."

Morgan Stanley may well be right, but I've got to admit I found their report incredibly depressing. Women have spent hundreds of years scrambling for equality – all so that investment bankers can tell people to invest in yoga pants and lipstick, apparently.

I also find it a little bizarre that, in 2019, we are still seeing reports with names like "Rise of the SHEconomy" which point out that investing in female-focussed brands is probably a good idea. No SHEeet Sherlock! Women have been driving the economy for a very long time; this isn't new news. "Arguably, women are now the most powerful engine of global growth," the Economist wrote back in 2006. And a Harvard Business Review article from 2009 notes that "in aggregate, women represent a growth market bigger than China and India combined – more than twice as big, in fact."

It has long been clear that women are an economic force to be reckoned with. Nevertheless, the corporate world has been incredibly slow to take female consumers seriously. Single women, in particular, have been overlooked by marketers. A study last year, for example, found that 48% of single women surveyed "think they are virtually nonexistent in advertising." When they are in ads they're normally portrayed as lonely or hypersexualized. And it's not just adverts, single women are still shamed and stigmatized by society. Being single can also be expensive; unmarried people often pay a lot more tax than their married counterparts.

Unmarried women have been ignored, patronized, and pitied for a very long time. But as Morgan Stanley's report shows, all the single ladies are taking over now. Forget putting a ring on it, it's time to show single women some much overdue respect.

Billie Eilish criticizes Nylon Germany for topless cover

The magazine put an illustration of the 17-year-old singer, depicted as a futuristic robot, on its cover without her consent. "...you're gonna make a picture of me shirtless?? thats not real?? at 17?" Eilish wrote in the magazine's Instagram comments. "and make it the cover????" The magazine apologized and appears to have removed the cover from Instagram.

The 'vagina' police are at it again

Social networks can't seem to get rid of white supremacists but they sure are vigilant about restricting references to female anatomy. On Tuesday Dr Jennifer Gunter tweeted that her publisher wasn't allowed to use the word "vagina" to promote her new book on vaginal health, The Vagina Bible, on Twitter. "The image can have it, but they are not allowed to use 'vagina' in the text," Gunter said. "Vagina is an anatomical term and not a 'dirty' word." Facebook and Instagram similarly rejected ads for the book, flagging them for "inappropriate language." After Gunter's tweet went viral the social networks decided it would be OK to let her use the V-word after all and the ads have been reinstated.

Japanese women are buying 'anti-groping' devices

New "anti-groping stamps", which aim to reduce harassment in crowded places like public transport, sold out just half an hour after going on sale in Japan. The idea is that if someone gropes you then you stamp them with invisible ink; police can then use the device's black light to identify the assailant. While clearly popular the devices are somewhat problematic. As a spokeswoman from Rape Crisis England and Wales told the BBC "'prevention' products like this one seem to place the onus and responsibility on victims" to protect themselves "when really that responsibility lies solely and completely with the perpetrators of these crimes, as does the power to end them."

Week in Russian pee-triarchy

Nope, this isn't about the Donald Trump Moscow tapes, it's about space suits. Ever since 1961 Russian astronauts have apparently been unzipping their space suits to pee on the back wheel of a bus before heading to space. (Female astronauts have been participating by bringing vials of their urine to throw at the wheel.) Sadly this disgusting tradition may now come to an end: Russia has launched a new astronaut space which makes the fly-by pee stop impossible.

Camila Cabello’s New Video Has Fans Theorizing That Her Next Single Is All About Love - Bustle

Posted: 31 Aug 2019 12:55 PM PDT

Forget Instagram countdowns and music video teasers, Camila Cabello has found a new way to tease her upcoming single: with a cryptic YouTube video featuring the singer narrating a poem. Camila Cabello's new video teases her new music and has fans theorizing that her upcoming single will be all about love.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, the singer posted a video titled "What Do I Know About Love?" on YouTube, which features Cabello wandering around gorgeous landscapes and staring pensively off camera while reciting a poem about finding and losing love. "What do I know about love? Nothing," Cabello begins the video. "Where does the love go when it runs out? When does it leave? Why does it die? Do you kill it in one violent blow? Or is it a million unattended, unhealed little cuts and scratches?"

Later, the singer talks about the power of love, saying, "I know when you call in love you feel like you're the first and only two people in the world. Every kiss, every touch, every caress is like something you feel nobody has ever felt before." Fans have already started analyzing the video, attempting to find the meaning in Cabello's cryptic video — and the fact that Shawn Mendes' social media handles were reportedly linked in the description. (Mendes' links have since been deleted.)

In addition to many fans speculating that "What Do I Know About Love?" might be a visual album or even just the title of her second album, many more fans pointed out that Cabello's new video is likely a just a tease for her next single. Shortly after the singer's video was posted, Twitter account PopHub tweeted that Cabello's next single will reportedly be released on Thursday, Sep. 5, based on a report from the UK newspaper The Telegraph.

Cabello has been teasing that her second album will be inspired by her life, and everything that she has experienced over the past few years, including a relationship and breakup with Matthew Hussey and her rumored romance with Mendes. In June, she shared an emotional post on Instagram, in which she told fans that her next album will be incredibly personal. "It feels really surreal and powerful that I can listen back to my life over the past year," Cabello wrote. "I hear my f*cking soul in these songs. I can see the memories in them. It's extremely painful, beautiful, cathartic, and just a sh*t show of emotions, but it's the reason I love this."

Camila Cabello on YouTube

A few months later, Cabello told Variety that she wrote about real experiences and relationships on her sophomore album, rather than the "faraway crushes" that inspired her debut. "Falling in love is like an infinite amount of levels and layers and angles. I fell in love and just opened up," she told the outlet. "Everything was written in present moment."

While Cabello's cryptic new video likely inspired more questions than answers among fans, it's clear that the singer is getting ready to bare her soul on her next album — and it seems like love will play a major role in Cabello's new music.
